Weather Channel Chastises Breitbart and House Science Committee for Sharing ‘cherry-picked' Climate Facts

WASHINGTON -- As winter weather approaches, it’s also getting chilly on the Internet. On Tuesday, reporters from the Weather Channel icily debunked the conservative website Breitbart for publishing a misleading article about global warming that was shared by the U.S. House science committee.The article last week claimed that global land temperatures have plummeted since the middle of this year, citing one satellite-based estimate of temperatures in a particular area as further proof that concern about global warming is unscientific propaganda.The article was tweeted out by the official account of the U.S. House Committee on Science, Space and Technology, which is chaired by Rep. Lamar Smith, R-San Antonio. Despite a broad consensus from scientists that the last two years have been the warmest years on record, Smith insists that global temperatures have held steady over the past decade and has often argued that there is “a great amount of uncertainty” about climate science.  Continue reading...
