Ben Mackey could have cashed his ticket early in life with a career in finance. Instead, he turned away from the business of money to the business of educating poor children.We are all richer for it.Mackey, 32, began his career in education with Teach for America, working in some of the poorest of poor schools in Mississippi. Today, he leads one of the greatest gems of Dallas public education as principal of the TAG magnet high school.In between, Mackey earned a master's degree in school leadership from Harvard University and became steeped in understanding how our public schools can best serve our children.
