Watch Live: Trump Addresses Shutdown From Rose Garden

WASHINGTON -- President Donald Trump is heading to the Rose Garden at 12:30 p.m. on Friday for a much anticipated announcement on the government shutdown, now in its 35th day.Multiple news outlets reported that the White House and lawmakers are nearing a deal.Trump has been stymied in his demand for $5.7 billion for a border wall before he would sign off on legislation to reopen agencies shuttered since Dec. 22, was considering a three-week stopgap spending bill.A deal that lacks wall funding would represent a capitulation by Trump, who has always boasted of his prowess as a deal-maker. Democrats won the House majority in the November elections. Speaker Nancy Pelosi has called the wall "immoral" and has refused to budge. The deal reportedly would provide no funding for the wall but would allow time for further talks on border security, while ending furloughs for 800,000 federal workers.Many of those workers have been required to work for more than a month without pay, including air traffic controllers, prison guards and the FBI agents who raided the home of Trump's longtime political fixer, Roger Stone, on Friday morning.  Continue reading...
