AUSTIN — The only debate between Democratic candidates for governor Lupe Valdez and Andrew White will be held Friday night in a crucial meeting that could help decide who gets to face incumbent GOP Gov. Greg Abbott in November.Dallas Morning News reporters have been covering the race closely and wrote extensive profiles of Valdez, the former Dallas County sheriff, and White, a Houston businessman, before the March primary.
