Walmart Is Closing a Dallas Store That's Become Unprofitable

Walmart is closing a store at 3155 W. Wheatland Road in Dallas saying the decision was made due to "financial performance."About 400 people work at the Supercenter. They were told today and meetings have started to identify other locations where there are jobs available, said Walmart spokeswoman Anne Hatfield. There are 12 stores within 10 miles of that location. The store opened in 1986. Hatfield called it a difficult decision that was made after "a careful and thoughtful review process." Several factors are behind the decision "including store's overall performance," she said. The store was recently in the news. Dallas Police found a body in a vehicle parked in front of the store in March that police said could have been there for weeks. That incident wasn't a factor, Hatfield said.Twitter: @MariaHalkias  Continue reading...
