Vice President Pence to Headline Gov. Abbott Fundraiser in D.C.

AUSTIN -- Vice President Mike Pence will headline a Washington, D.C. fundraiser for Gov. Greg Abbott next month.The event will take place Nov. 13 at the Willard Hotel, a luxury hotel two blocks away from the White House. Among the guests invited to the fundraiser, first reported by The Texas Tribune, are Sens. Ted Cruz and John Cornyn. "Governor Abbott is honored and grateful to have the support of Vice President Pence," Abbott spokesman John Wittman said in an emailed statement.The price of entry ranges from $1,000 for admission to the general reception to $50,000 per couple for a private dinner with Abbott and C. Boyden Gray, who served as U.S. ambassador to the European Union under President George W. Bush. For $50,000, couples also get a photograph with Abbott and Pence.Abbott has already amassed more than $40 million for his 2018 re-election campaign, according to his most recent campaign finance reports, though no major opponent from either the Republican or Democratic parties have announced their intention to challenge the governor.   Continue reading...
