As the Venezuelan military clashes with anti-Nicolas Maduro protesters in the streets of Caracas, Venezuelans living in North Texas are watching on, hoping their families are safe.But they’re also hoping that today’s coup d’etat led by interim president Juan Guaido is the start of a movement that will rid the ailing South American nation of Maduro’s iron fist way of ruling, perhaps leading to an end to widespread shortages of food and other bare essentials.Zeanly Gomez, a Frisco resident from Venezuela, said today’s protests are overdue and that it is time for Maduro, who has been in power since 2013, to go.“This is an obligation to reach liberty,” Gomez said.
