Vandals Remove 33 Plaques From Memorial at White Rock Lake

Suspected vandals pried more than 30 plaques off a memorial in Celebration Tree Grove, part a reforestation project around White Rock Lake. Someone removed 33 plaques from the stone memorial in White Rock Creek Park at East Lawther and Poppy drives, established to honor, remember and celebrate others. Mike Schmitt, who reported the incident Tuesday in a Facebook post shared by For the Love of the Lake, said it may have been the work of someone trying to sell the plaques for scrap metal.  Continue reading...
