Valentine's Day Gift for Delta's Dallas Area Employees: $7 Million in Bonuses

Delta Air Line's approximately 1,000 employees in Dallas-Fort Worth are getting paid a combined total of $7 million in bonuses today. The Atlanta-based airline has an annual tradition of sharing profits with employees on Valentine's Day. This year, it's paying a total of $1.3 billion in bonuses to its more than 80,000 employees, the company announced.It's the second highest payout to employees in Delta's history. Bonuses are paid out in cash or retirement account contributions, depending on what employees prefer. The bonuses make up about 14 percent of each Delta employee's annual pay.In Dallas-Fort Worth, Delta has employees at DFW International Airport, Dallas Love Field and a call center that handles flight reservations and service requests. Delta's competitor, Dallas-based Southwest Airlines, is sharing $544 million in profits with employees this year. The bonuses, given in cash and retirement contributions, will be doled out March 14.
