UNT on Alert After String of Sexual Assaults Near Denton Campus

Police are investigating and students have staff have been urged to take precautions after a number of sexual assaults and attempted sexual assaults have been reported near the University of North Texas campus.The incidents occurred northwest of the school; Denton police did not say exactly how many cases there were.The victims did not know their attacker, who entered their homes after knocking on the door or in some cases breaking in, police said. No suspect description was available other than that the man had a large build, and officers have not ruled out that there could be more than one attacker.In one recent case, the Denton Record-Chronicle reported, a woman woke up and found a man on top of her around 4 a.m. May 16 at her apartment in the 2300 block of West Hickory Street.
