Unseasonably Warm Winter in Dallas-Fort Worth Could Mean Hotter Summer

It's shaping up to be the warmest February on record in Dallas-Fort Worth. DFW International Airport hit 86 degrees Wednesday afternoon — far above the average high of 62 — setting a new record of 11 days in winter above 80 degrees, meteorologist Patricia Sanchez with the National Weather Service said. The record for 10 days above 80 was set in the 2005-2006 winter season and in 1908-1909, she said. It's likely Dallas-Fort Worth will add another day to the record on Thursday when the high is forecast to reach the upper 80s.The hot temperatures combined with a breeze also mean fire danger is elevated, according to the Weather Service.
