Two Men Arrested After Crash Near UNT Leads Denton Police to 38 Pounds of Meth

Two men were arrested over the weekend after Denton police recovered about 38 pounds of methamphetamine after a crash on Interstate 35. Jose Garcia, 52, and Jose Barazza, 55, were arrested in connection with the incident, which police were alerted to about 9:15 p.m. Saturday. A caller reported a crash on I-35, near South Bonnie Brae Street and the University of North Texas, and said a man was walking on the highway.When officers arrived, they found the wrecked vehicle and a package of meth on the ground that weighed 451 grams. Police later executed a search warrant and found an additional 37.4 pounds of meth in the vehicle.Garcia ran away when officers attempted to make verbal contact with him, but he stopped and advanced on a sergeant with a knife, police said.Garcia refused to comply with the sergeant's requests and was tased and placed under arrest, police said.  Continue reading...
