Two Dead in Hill County After Shooting and Extensive Pursuit

Two men are dead in Hill County after a Friday night shooting and a pursuit that ended with the driver apparently turning the gun on himself.Hill County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call of a gunshot victim at 8:43 p.m. Friday in the 300 block of Interstate 35 South in Abbott. There, behind a residence, they found Dennis Pavlas, 59, of West with a single gunshot wound to the chest.Pavlas was transported to Waco's Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest Hospital, where he was able to provide a description of the suspect's vehicle before being pronounced dead at 10:03 p.m.A few hours later, at 12:46 a.m. Friday, police in Robinson received a call about a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of a Pilot store in the 8000 block of North I-35.
