Two Children on the Way to School in Lake Highlands Hit by Truck When Crossing the Street

Two children on their way to school were hit by a truck when crossing the street Tuesday in Lake Highlands, police say.Around 7 a.m. Tuesday, two children attempted to cross Audelia Road at the intersection with Ferndale Road. The two, ages 8 and 11, were crossing the six-lane street while the "Don't Walk" sign was flashing, police say.The driver of a Dodge Ram truck was turning right on to Audelia Road from Ferndale and failed to see the two crossing, according to police. The driver hit the children, who were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.The driver has not been charged with a crime.  Continue reading...
