Turbulent United Flight Into Houston Sends 7 to Hospitals

A turbulent flight from Panama to Houston resulted in seven passengers being hospitalized Tuesday afternoon.The Houston Fire Department met United Airlines Flight 1031 on the runway at George Bush Intercontinental Airport around 1:40 p.m., Senior Captain Ruy Lozano said.The patients had minor head and neck injuries, Lozano said. The flight experienced turbulence in Mexican airspace about 80 miles east of Cancún, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.United said in a statement that nine passengers and one crew member were taken to a hospital. It was unclear why there was a discrepancy in the number of injured people.Lozano later reported around 4:45 p.m. that only seven passengers were sent to hospitals."Our thoughts and concerns are with those who were injured and our team is reaching out directly to our customers to provide further care and support," United said in its statement.  Continue reading...
