Trump Pushes Populist Plan for Tax Overhaul But Offers Few Details on How to Make It Happen

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump on Wednesday hit the road to pitch a "once-in-a-generation opportunity" to overhaul the nation's tax code to make it more "pro-growth, pro-jobs, pro-worker and pro-American."He struck a populist tone by pledging to get rid of loopholes that "primarily benefit the wealthiest Americans." He argued that lower taxes on businesses would raise wages for average Americans. And he said it's time that the American worker gets a long overdue raise."Millions of struggling citizens will be lifted from welfare to work," he said at a factory in Missouri. "They will love getting up in the morning. They will love going to their jobs.
