Trump Nominates Former Texas Regulator, a Climate Change Skeptic, to Environmental Council

WASHINGTON -- President Donald Trump has nominated former Texas environmental lobbyist and regulator Kathleen Hartnett White, a climate change skeptic, to head the Council on Environmental Quality, a federal office that coordinates efforts between agencies.White is a fellow at the right-leaning Texas Public Policy Foundation in Austin, which receives funding from energy companies including Chevron and Exxon Mobil. White was also an economic adviser to Trump during his campaign and lobbied for the foundation until late last year.“Throughout her career Kathleen has served Texans as a strong leader, in particular by ensuring that Texans have the energy and natural resources they need to prosper,” Brooke Rollins, President and CEO of the foundation, said in a prepared statement. “We at TPPF congratulate Kathleen on this important opportunity and know she will serve our nation with the same thoughtfulness, determination and common sense that have been her hallmarks in Texas.”  Continue reading...
