Trial to Begin for ex-Texas A&M, Skyline Star Who Admitted Killing Dallas Runner With Machete

A trial is set to begin Monday for a former Texas A&M and Skyline High School football star accused in the 2015 slaying of a runner in East Dallas.Thomas Johnson, 25, was charged with murder in October 2015 after police said he killed 53-year-old Dave Stevens with a machete on White Rock Trail. Stevens, a GE engineer and marathoner, was on his routine morning run when Johnson ambushed him, police said. After the attack, Johnson called 911 from a witness's cellphone and confessed to the slaying.He led the witness to Stevens' body and later told police he "just committed capital murder," according to an arrest-warrant affidavit.   Continue reading...
