Trial Beginning for Boyfriend Accused of Killing Zuzu Verk, Burying Her in Shallow West Texas Grave

The man accused in the 2016 slaying of Zuzu Verk, whose body was found in a shallow grave in West Texas, is scheduled to stand trial this week.Verk's boyfriend, 28-year-old Robert Fabian, was indicted in March 2017 on charges of first-degree murder and tampering with or fabricating evidence in the 22-year-old's death in October 2016. Jury selection started Monday morning in the case, which is being tried in Caldwell County, about 35 miles south of Austin, after a change of venue was requested, a deputy clerk said.Verk, who graduated from Timber Creek High School in Keller, was last heard from on Oct. 11, 2016, when she went to the movies with Fabian. She didn't show up for work or an exam the next day.Fabian told police he and Verk got into a "heated" argument about one of his ex-girlfriends that night after Verk went to his apartment for dinner and a massage, but said she later left, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.   Continue reading...
