Toddler Drowns in Hurst After Being Left Alone in Bathtub

A 1-year-old girl drowned at a Hurst apartment Wednesday afternoon after being left alone in a bathtub, police say.Officers were called to the apartment in the 1700 block of Sotogrande Boulevard, near East Hurst Boulevard, after the child was reported unresponsive.Police say a parent was bathing two girls, ages 2 and 1, at the time. The parent pulled the drain plug and left the bathroom with the 2-year-old.The 1-year-old was lying in the bottom of the tub, which had emptied, when the parent returned moments later.Officers performed CPR and took the girl — identified as Riley Maple — to Texas Health Harris Methodist H-E-B, where she was pronounced dead at 4:16 p.m.Riley's first birthday was Nov. 7, records show.Police are continuing to investigate the incident.  Continue reading...
