To the Tune of Bollywood Music and 3 Million Meals, Indian American Group Tackles North Texas Hunger

PLANO — Once a month, Bollywood music echoes around the North Texas Food Bank’s Plano warehouse.Between packing up potatoes and sorting cans of sweet corn, the mostly immigrant volunteers put their hands in the air and sing along. Just part of the routine at the monthly shift for the Indian American Council, a volunteer and fundraising arm of the food bank.Dilip Shah of Carrollton turns up the volume with a big grin.“See, where else can you have fun like this on a Saturday morning?” he says, before moving back to the canned food line.  Continue reading...
