‘There's a Sword in His Head,' ex-Texas A&M Player Said After Killing Runner on White Rock Creek Trail, 911 Tape at Trial Shows

The former Texas A&M football player who confessed to killing a runner near White Rock Lake in 2015 pleaded with passersby for a phone to call police after attacking the man with a machete, witnesses said Monday during his trial.Thomas Johnson, 25, was charged with murder after police said he fatally attacked 53-year-old Dave Stevens on Oct. 12, 2015, while Stevens ran along the White Rock Creek Trail. He later confessed to the killing, police said.State prosecutor Andrea Moseley told jurors in her opening remarks that the evidence would clearly show that Johnson killed Stevens."You'll know at the end of this trial that we have eyewitnesses," she said.
