The Musical ‘Oswald,' With 27 Songs and Broadway Ambitions, Will Have Its World Premiere in Dallas

Lee Harvey Oswald holds a rare distinction: He is the most infamous name in the history of Dallas.And he is about to be the focal point of a musical with Broadway ambitions that will have its world premiere at the Firehouse Theatre in Farmers Branch from May 3 through May 5. The show is titled, simply, Oswald. And yes, it's a musical — with 27 songs. "It is the story of Lee Harvey Oswald, but two actors portray him," says casting director Ally Beans, who also serves as one of the show's producers. "We have the man who did it and the man who did not, which sort of buys into the unknown, some of the conspiracy theories, some of the gray areas of the story as we know it." Beans says the show will allow us "to see some of the events leading up to the assassination, in real time, with two different outcomes." The story is told through the eyes of Marina Oswald, the widow of the man believed to be the assassin of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963.   Continue reading...
