The Fight Over the Cotton Belt Has Gone Off the Rails

The debate over whether and how DART should finance the Cotton Belt rail line, the agency's first east-to-west suburban trek, has gotten off track. The question should not be, as proponents on both sides of the increasingly stormy debate have argued, whether DART owes its first loyalty to Dallas, its biggest market, or to the suburbs. DART is designed to serve both, and that's a deal that Dallas made years ago. Dallas Area Rapid Transit was always intended to be a regional solution to a regional problem.   Continue reading...
