The Dallas Morning News Recommends Maxie Johnson for Dallas ISD, District 5

What riches for Dallas ISD to have two smart, strong fathers who are invested in the education system campaigning to become even more involved.Dallas would be well served by either Maxie Johnson or David King serving on the Dallas ISD board. But we tip toward Johnson as the candidate whose approach to education is most likely to lead to the best outcomes for students.Johnson is the pastor of New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church and a graduate of A. Maceo Smith High School. He’s worked as a teaching assistant and community liaison for DISD, and he’s involved in various Oak Cliff parent associations, including vice president of the South Oak Cliff High School PTA. He and his son have complained loudly about dangerous infrastructure problems and a mouse infestation at South Oak Cliff High School, and the community’s concern has resulted in some improvements.  Continue reading...
