The Dallas Morning News Recommends Karla Garcia for Dallas School Board Trustee, District 4

Karla Garcia, one of four candidates for District 4 on the Dallas school board, has had the kind of success that the Dallas school district would bottle if it could.The daughter of immigrants from Mexico attended the all-girls Irma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School and went on to graduate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The 22-year-old returned to Dallas and is now working on college access programs at Dallas County Promise.We believe her unique perspective as a recent DISD student and her reform-minded positions on the issues important to improve the district’s schools would be a breath of fresh air. We strongly recommend her over opponents real estate agent Camile White, retired teacher Amalia Lozano and Omar Jimenez, a bookseller/ticket services associate.They are facing off to fill the seat vacated by Jaime Resendez, who resigned to run for Dallas City Council.
