The Dallas Morning News Recommends Chris Schulmeister for Allen City Council, Place 4

Allen voters have a good contrast to choose from in the open-seat City Council Place 4 race. Businessman Chris Schulmeister has been involved in the city’s economic development plans and other issues for years, and he’s a booster of the city’s recent big projects. Former teacher and social worker Melanie Hughes is skeptical of recent development plans and pledges to offer a voice to citizens and families.We recommend Schulmeister, a 59-year-old financial adviser to small- and medium-sized businesses. His extensive experience on city boards and commissions and understanding of the need for economic competitiveness will serve Allen well going forward.Schulmeister served several years on the board of the city’s Economic Development Corp. and Community Development Corp. He was a key player in the city’s last bond election, in 2016.
