The Dallas Morning News Recommends Carl Sherman Jr. for DeSoto Independent School District Trustee, Place 1

The DeSoto Independent School District is looking to rebound from a triple whammy. It’s one of the few districts in North Texas to receive a D rating from the TEA. It discovered a $23 million budget deficit that might require a school closure. And there was questionable spending by the previous administration.Responsibility for some of those woes can be placed at the feet of the board of trustees, which counts two-term trustee Carl Sherman Jr. as president. Sherman, among the most tenured of the panel’s seven members, said since those missteps surfaced, changes have rightly been initiated including more budget oversight by the board, restricting credit card access and tightening cash handling procedures.  Continue reading...
