The City of Dallas' Tightfistedness Is Costing Us Plenty

The city of Dallas is like a couple's home that needs a new roof, new paint, the deck rebuilt and maybe some landscaping out front. One spouse says to the other: "Let's fix up our place while interest rates are low. We have to live here, after all. Might as well enjoy it."The other responds: "That's a terrible idea. The nicer the place is, the more we'll pay in property taxes. Let's spend as little as we can get away with."So who's right? The penny-pincher who'd rather put the money toward retirement or a college fund? Or his spouse who figures steady maintenance and an occasional big-ticket investment will make the house nicer, and life there more pleasant?   Continue reading...
