Texas Man Found Not Guilty by Insanity After Church Stabbings That Left Man Dead

A South Texas man will avoid prison time after a jury found him not guilty by reason of insanity Tuesday for a church stabbing last year that left one person dead and three wounded.Marco Antonio Moreno, 29, faced one count of murder and three aggravated assault charges in connection with the stabbings at Kingdom Acts Ministries in Corpus Christi in February. One of the victims, 61-year-old Frank Castillo, died from his wounds.Prosecutors did not dispute two mental-health professionals' findings that Moreno was insane when the stabbing took place, the Corpus Christi Caller Times reported. Instead, they focused on whether Moreno had done anything to worsen his mental health ahead of the attack, such as smoking marijuana.Moreno will now undergo mental-health evaluations before being placed in a facility for treatment.  Continue reading...
