Texas Gov. Greg Abbott Condemns Violence Against Law Enforcement During Fallen Officers’ Memorial

AUSTIN — Gov. Greg Abbott honored law enforcement officers who died on the job during a memorial Monday, calling on Texans to support and respect the police."We must as a community stand in solidarity with them," he said. And we must focus on restoring the respect for law enforcement, not just in Texas but throughout our entire nation."Abbott condemned violence against police officers, citing a law passed during last year's legislative session that makes targeting officers a hate crime. House Bill 2908 established restraining or assaulting a peace officer as a second-degree felony, and causing serious bodily injury to an officer as a first-degree felony."Texas has sent a clear message — that disrespect for the men and women who wear the badge will not be tolerated," Abbott said.  Continue reading...
