Texas Democrats Launch Multi-million-dollar ‘war Room' to Defeat GOP Sen. John Cornyn

WASHINGTON — Texas Democrats on Thursday unveiled a multi-million-dollar "war room" to unseat longtime Texas Sen. John Cornyn, again signaling growing liberal optimism that the Republican is vulnerable in the 2020 election.The effort, first reported by the Texas Tribune, seeks to "expose Cornyn's real record.""We cannot wait for the primary dust to settle before we launch our attacks on John Cornyn," Texas Democratic Party executive director Manny Garcia wrote in a memo. "Early attacks will define Cornyn and reveal him for what he is — a coward, afraid of shadows on his right and left."It remains to be seen who Democrats will select as that candidate — and if the party will be able to avoid a bruising primary fight.San Antonio Rep. Joaquin Castro — whose twin brother, Julián, is running for president — is considering a challenge against Cornyn.
