Texas summers can be brutal -- with temperatures reaching the 100s for days. But summers aren't terrible in all Texas cities.2. What's the history behind Dallas' Old Parkland on Maple Avenue? The Old Parkland campus on Maple Avenue may be home to more than 100 companies today, but it was once Dallas' first public hospital.3. What happened to Dallas High School -- the city's first public high school? The current three-story building was built in 1907 to replace an older wooden school building that stood in its place.
