Texas Attorney General's Office Says Mesquite's Annexation Plan May Violate State Law

In a decision similar to what it recently told another North Texas city, Attorney General Ken Paxton's office has informed Mesquite officials that its plan to annex into Kaufman County may violate state law.In a five-page letter to City Council members and the city attorney on Thursday, the attorney general's office questioned the scope, notice and public hearings of the city's plan to annex land into Kaufman County.The city was asked to answer by noon Monday.
