Texans Join Thousands of Abortion Opponents at March for Life in Washington

WASHINGTON — For seven years, Texan Abby Johnson has flown to Washington to take part in the annual March for Life. The weather at the January event is usually miserable — last year, she marched in a blizzard.But when the rally started Friday, the sun was shining, although it was cold. And Johnson was feeling positive.“There’s a lot of optimism here today, where there hasn’t been before. We felt pretty hopeless and helpless as far as federal legislation goes,” Johnson, who was among the featured speakers Friday, said of the abortion opponents who marched during Barack Obama’s tenure.But with Donald Trump as president, “Now we have someone who appears to be a champion for our cause in the White House.”“Life is winning again,” declared Vice President Mike Pence, a staunch anti-abortion Republican, during his address to the thousands gathered on the National Mall.  Continue reading...
