A Keller 15-year-old told police that he recently reported two fake shootings so that he could watch officers respond as he sat on his rooftop. Dispatch received the "spoof" calls about 11:20 p.m. Sunday and 11:10 p.m. Monday in the 1200 block of Verona Way, near Rufe Snow Drive and north of Tarrant Parkway. When officers arrived, they found the residents unharmed and unaware that any 911 calls had been made, police said. Former Keller mayor Pat McGrail and his wife Pauline live in one of the homes, but the teen said he randomly selected the houses as the scenes of the false shootings. With cooperation from the 15-year-old's parents, authorities were able to retrieve the cell phone used to make the calls. The teen, who will not be named because he's a juvenile, was taken into custody Wednesday and will be be referred to the Tarrant County Juvenile Detention Center. False reports to 911 are a misdemeanor. Continue reading...
