Teen Charged With Capital Murder of Far Northeast Dallas Man Shot in Robbery Attempt

Dallas police have charged an 18-year-old with capital murder in a Thursday robbery that ended with the victim fatally shot.Janelius Howard, 18, was arrested Monday.Police believe Howard and a companion tried to rob Manuel Anzaldua, 55, in the parking lot of the apartment complex where Anzaldua lived and worked.They approached Anzaldua and demanded property from him shortly after the victim parked in the 12000 block of Audelia Road, near Forest Road, around 3 p.m., police said.When Anzaldua began to struggle with the robbers, one of them produced a handgun and shot him. The robbers fled, and Anzaldua was pronounced dead at a hospital.Howard remained in the Dallas County jail Tuesday evening. Bail was set at $500,000 for the capital murder charge, and $1,500 for a drug possession charge.The second suspect remains at large.  Continue reading...
