Storms in Texas, Oklahoma Produce the Sort of Tornadoes That ‘meteorologists Like'

Dozens of tornadoes ripped through portions of Texas and Oklahoma Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning.At least 19 tornadoes were reported between the two states from Midland to Tulsa, according to preliminary storm reports from the Storm Prediction Center.Ahead of Monday’s storms, the center had forecast a high risk for severe weather in stretches of the Texas Panhandle and Oklahoma — a risk that had not been issued in two years.In anticipation, many schools, business and government buildings closed early across the area.Gov. Greg Abbott also prepared state resources and operations to be ready to respond to the severe weather.
