Sisters Missing for 31 Years Discovered in Houston; Mother Arrested

A woman was arrested in Houston on Sunday on suspicion of abducting her two daughters, who went missing in Rhode Island in 1985. Elaine Yates, 69, didn't have custody of Kimberly and Kelly, who are now 35 and 32, Rhode Island authorities said.A missing-persons complaint was filed on Aug. 26, 1985, by the girls' father, Russell Yates. Police believe that Elaine Yates left their Warwick, R.I., home with the girls — then 3 years and 10 months old — because of a domestic dispute.
