Sexual Harassment in the Texas Capitol Must Be Stopped. The House Has Acted; Senate Where Are You?

As Texas lawmakers get started on tackling the important issues facing this state, we shouldn’t overlook the fact that representatives took a major step toward getting their own house in order this week.We applaud a unanimous 142-0 vote in the House to strengthen how members handle sexual harassment complaints by having a legislative committee with subpoena powers look into allegations of inappropriate behavior.Most important, this means the General Investigating Committee can hire a third-party independent investigator when elected officials are accused.  Continue reading...
