Sex Offender, Another Man Trafficked Girl for Sex in Dallas Area, Feds Say

Two men accused of trafficking a child for sex in the Dallas area were indicted in federal court this week.Jonathan Markey "Gotti" Chopane, 35, and Catrell Tywarren "Trell" Johnson, 27, each face one count of sex trafficking of children.According to an indictment filed Tuesday in federal district court, the pair trafficked a girl for sex in December and January. The criminal complaint in the case remains sealed, and authorities have not released further details about the allegations against Chopane and Johnson.Johnson is a registered sex offender following a 2012 case in which he admitted to making a 14-year-old girl perform a sex act. He was sentenced to six years of probation, but he served three years in prison after his probation was revoked in 2015, court records show.Johnson has been convicted of a number of other crimes in Dallas County, including assault, evading arrest and several counts of theft.Chopane has no apparent criminal history in Dallas County or in California, where public records show he previously lived.Johnson was being held without bail Wednesday at the Kaufman County jail.
