Sewer Overflow Dumps Into Plano's Cottonwood Creek; Some Residents Encouraged to Boil Water

Construction crews at a North Texas Municipal Water District station in Plano broke a sanitary sewer pipe Tuesday, causing 100,000 gallons of wastewater to leak into Cottonwood Creek, the district announced in a news release.Although the leak has not affected municipal water supplies, the district said, residents with private wells within a half-mile of the spill site are encouraged to boil water for at least one minute for all uses. Private wells should also be tested and disinfected.People should avoid contact with soil or water in the affected area and should bathe or wash clothes as soon as possible after contact with soil or water near the creek.  Continue reading...
