Senate Approves Extending Panels That Allow Seniors Who Fail STAAR to Graduate

AUSTIN - Graduation committees that allow seniors who failed required state tests to earn a diploma anyway could continue their work another two years under a bill approved by the Senate on Monday.The so-called individual graduation committees - which are made up of parents and educators - were created on a temporary basis last session allowing students who failed STAAR to finish high school such panels approved.The provision authorizing such committees was to expire this year.
