Sam's Club Knocks Off Chick-fil-A With Its Member's Mark Frozen Sandwich and Waffle Fries

Sam's Club, which has been on a big push to upgrade its stores and boost sales, must have some Chick-fil-A fans working there.The division of Walmart has gone to a lot of effort to replicate its version of that classic chicken breast sandwich and waffle fries that's helped triple Chick-fil-A's sales in the last decade.Everything about the launch this week is designed to conjure up your Chick-fil-A cravings.Sam's featured the new item in its latest circular saying it's "Best on days that end in 'y' with this big time nod to the fast food chain which is famously not open on Sundays:"Say hello to our new Member's Mark Chicken Sandwich and Waffle Fries perfectly crispy, fully cooked and especially delicious on Sundays."Another big wink-wink is a prominent message of "pickles not included."The 10-count sandwich box is $15.98 and the 4-lb. bag of waffle fries is $5.78.Chick-fil-A charges $3.49 for the sandwich, including pickle slices, and $1.85 for medium fries.The packaging uses the same lettering font and is red and white.In its 'fun facts' section of its website, Chick-fil-A says the "top secret" recipe for the signature chicken sandwich is "hidden in a safe at the Chick-fil-A office in Atlanta, Georgia."Someone may have gotten into that safe. Sam's frozen version that takes 80 to 90 seconds to heat up in the microwave was pretty close, in my opinion, at least on this past Sunday when I tried it.  Continue reading...
