Runner-up for Top Job at Dallas City Hall Could Leave for Another Texas City

The runner up for the top job at Dallas City Hall is now a finalist for the same gig in Amarillo.Assistant City Manager Mark McDaniel's hunt for a way out of Dallas comes as no surprise; he openly said that if he didn't get promoted to city manager, he'd want to be a city manager somewhere.He has not been as visible around City Hall since he lost out on the job and did not respond to a call seeking comment Friday. He will be part of public reception Monday in Amarillo.The panhandle city has a population of nearly 200,000 people.If McDaniel gets the job, he would be the second top deputy to leave City Hall.
