Richland Hills Standoff Ends With Armed Man Who Threatened to Harm Himself in Custody

A standoff with an armed man in Richland Hills ended peacefully Wednesday morning when police detained the 26-year-old, police said.Police were called around midnight to a neighborhood in the 7500 block of Bridges Avenue after someone called 911 reporting the suspect was trying to harm himself. A SWAT team was also dispatched, and officers wearing camouflage and carrying sniper rifles were at the scene.A few hours later, the man was taken into custody unharmed, and his weapon was recovered. He was taken to a hospital for evaluation, said Capt. Sheena McEachran, a spokeswoman for Richland Hills police.The man was not identified, and no charges had been filed against him, McEachran said.  Continue reading...
