Revived ‘Save Chick-fil-A' Bill Will Be Debated Wednesday in Texas Senate

AUSTIN — The Texas Senate is expected to debate the so-called "Save Chick-fil-A" bill on Wednesday, legislation heralded by conservatives as an effort to protect religious freedom and criticized by gay rights groups as anti-LGBT.The bill would prevent the government from penalizing an individual or business for actions based on their religious beliefs or moral convictions. The newly-formed House LGBTQ Caucus killed a similar piece of legislation Thursday, a huge victory for Texas Democrats, but the effort was revived in the Senate and fast-tracked to the floor this week.   Continue reading...
