Lester Earnest Noble loved many things in life. He loved to fish, he loved Halloween and he loved his grandkids. And, his daughter said, the retired soldier and police officer also loved the action that went with his job.As a teenager, he was so ready to get to the Vietnam War that instead of taking an officer position out of boot camp, he remained a private so he could be commissioned more quickly, his daughter said. Later, as a Grapevine police officer, he helped form the department's bomb team. "He loved the excitement," Nicole Schelter said. "He was always the one running into it."
