Residents Who Rushed to Help Officer After Hit-and-run Are Honored at City Hall

The city of Dallas recognized eight people who jumped into action and helped a police officer after his car was knocked into a creek in a hit-and-run crash.Lenora Jefferson, Sam Khater, Marco Lopez, Jorge Nava Martinez, Rosemary Mendoza, Albert Moreno, Richard Robertson and Charles Rogers were honored Wednesday morning at City Hall. Robertson and his wife, Jefferson, were the first to respond to the crash. Jefferson called 911 while Robertson calmed Senior Cpl. Dale Ordogne and called for passers-by to help.Mendoza, who has medical training, held Ordogne's hand until others arrived.Khater, Lopez, Martinez and Rogers helped Jefferson push the officer's car on its side.Moreno, a city employee, saw police cars rushing to the scene, followed them and helped pull Ordogne out of his car.  Continue reading...
