Republican Lawmaker on Alleged Target List Demands Answers From Caucus Chairman Dustin Burrows

AUSTIN -- A Republican lawmaker wants GOP caucus chairman Dustin Burrows to respond to allegations that he and House Speaker Dennis Bonnen are targeting members of their own party.Rep. Ernest Bailes said he’s drafting a letter to seek answers from Burrows, who along with Bonnen, was accused by a hardline conservative activist of targeting 10 incumbents they hoped to oust in the Republican primary. “I am making a formal request now to get that response from Burrows,” Bailes told The Dallas Morning News on Monday. Bailes, R-Shepherd, said the caucus sent an email Monday morning asking for information about the representatives’ district events while “completely ignoring” the allegations facing its chairman.  Continue reading...
